Play is a child's natural form of expression. In play therapy, I encourage children to use their innate creativity in play, artwork, story telling, puppetry, and games. Through these forms of expression, we are able to form a warm, trusting relationship which allows the child to feel comfortable and secure in therapy. The play itself is a therapeutic tool which helps children to resolve difficult emotional issues, overcome behavioral problems, develop positive coping skills, and improve self-esteem. I am pleased to offer a play therapy room in my practice. This space allows children to explore a variety of play media and find the best tools to express themselves and work through difficult issues.

Play therapy can be used effectively in the treatment of many childhood issues including: depression, anxiety, grief or loss, abuse, trauma, adjustment to life changes or stressors (such as moving, divorce, school transitions, etc.), behavioral problems, and inattentiveness or hyperactivity (ADHD).
