![]() I believe in each individual’s ability to change, to heal, and to grow. I encourage my clients to utilize their personal strengths to build skills, confront challenges, and improve their lives. Change takes place both within the nurturing environment of the counseling session as well as within the client’s personal life.

I am a Professional Clinical Counselor and have worked in the counseling profession since 1997. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Emory University and my master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. I am a member of the American Counseling Association. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I provide individual therapy, couples counseling, and psychoeducational groups. My specialty areas for therapy with adults include depression and anxiety; post-partum depression; grief and loss; abuse/trauma; spirituality; women’s issues; gay and lesbian issues; interpersonal relationship skills; and parenting/family issues. In my work with children, I provide a non-threatening environment in which children can feel safe and comfortable to express themselves. I practice play therapy, a creative intervention which utilizes books, art supplies, puppets, games, and a variety of toys to assist children in communicating their emotions and concerns and to work through difficulties. Concurrently, I support parents in implementing strategies to help children at home. Play therapy can be utilized effectively in the treatment of many childhood issues including: grief, abuse, trauma, adjustment to life changes, behavioral problems, depression, anxiety, and inattentiveness or hyperactivity (ADHD). Adolescents can have trouble expressing themselves to others. I provide a relaxed, casual environment where adolescent clients can set the tone and pace of therapy. This helps clients build trust, increase openness, and gain the most benefits from their counseling experience. I employ books, artwork, music, journals, and even games to assist adolescent clients in communicating their emotions and concerns and to work through difficult issues. I also provide parents with communication strategies and support to help at home. This type of therapy can treat many adolescent issues including: grief or loss, abuse, trauma, adjustment to life changes or stressors, behavioral problems (including self-injurious behavior), depression, anxiety, and inattentiveness or hyperactivity. |
