Margaret M. Markey, LSW, LPCC Individual, Marital, Family Counseling Mediation Services
Taking the first step toward getting help is often the most difficult action many of us will take. It is part of admitting the problem exists. There is a freedom to this step, however, and that freedom is in the form of hope that finally things may change, solutions may exist, and that life will once again become manageable. A good therapist helps guide the individual, couple, or family through a process of self awareness and understanding of their situation or personal crisis. From there, change and growth can begin. Working together, solutions become possible and the steps of action become clear. |

Counseling
I have over 27 years of experience counseling individuals, couples and families who have allowed me to witness the resilience of the human spirit and the courage that change and growth require. It is enormously satisfying to me to help clients through difficult times or major life transitions. |

Mediation Services – Family Relations
Many issues arise for parents when they have chosen to end their marriage or relationship. Usually conflicts are high and many decisions need to be made for the best interests of both parties and especially for their children. Mediation can become a preferred non-adversarial method of resolving these conflicts so as to reduce the negative impact on the child/children. The process involves disputing parties sitting down together with a skilled impartial individual who helps them develop an effective parenting plan. If an agreement is reached, the details are developed into a document given to both parties so they can provide their attorneys and the court with their own voluntary solution to co-parenting.
Guided by knowledge and skills of family systems and child development, I have gained additional training in Family and Divorce Mediation. My basic mediation training was through Partners in Mediation in Cincinnati and family and divorce mediation training was received at Community Mediation Services in Columbus.
